Kevin Ripley's 'Kinda Jumpin' is a stand up drum 'n' bass heater full of stuttering breaks, unlikely melodies, and fast bass weight. B-side 'goog ogogo go' unfolds in layers of nocturnal bell tones, which slide elegiacally over a relentlessly pulsing acid groove.
Ripley's productions are informed by years of work as a jazz drummer in Philadelphia. A close collaborator of Kingsley Ibeneche, Lee Clarke, Jarrett Gilgore, and other Astro Nautico community members, Ripley has previously self-released several EPs and the full-length Three Changes (2017).
Kinda Jumpin, Ripley's first release for Astro Nautico, is part of Atlantics X, our campaign of weekly releases building an emergency microfund for Astro Nautico artists impacted by COVID-19 and its economic fallout (priority to BIPOC). Learn more and donate here: www.gofundme.com/f/atlanticsx
